Stavo Mustang Craft is a multidisciplinary artist and award-winning author and musician, exploring the activation of personal creativity as a main topic of inquiry. As an avid writer of both story and song, he published his first pulp fiction novella, "Auto Antenna: An Enchanted Guide to Santa Fe & Vague Blueprint to the Cosmos" in the Summer of 2023, which won the 2024 National Indie Excellence Award for Visionary Fiction, and became an audiobook just before the new year, 2025. Craft is also the Captain of the DIY Art Pop project, Galactic Witchcraft, whose "Fabric Statements" record was the runner-up for Best Pop Album of the Year at the 2018 New Mexico Music Awards. His song, "The Game Show" (2021) was transformed into a collaborative video installation project with art-world darlings Meow Wolf in 2022, now appearing in Meow Wolf's Convergence Station in Denver. Through the years, Craft has performed his concept-driven music at historic venues like Angel Orensanz Center, the Tenement Museum of New York, Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, Merce Cunningham Studio, and CBGB's Gallery. His recordings served as soundtracks for modern dance and performance events on 5 continents, in Australia, Amsterdam, Colombia, New York City, and Taipei, where the song "Walking On Water" in collaboration with choreographer Kun Yang Lin, collected an award from the Government of Taiwan for Creativity in Dance. Craft also engaged the New York City theatre world, as co-writer on a stage show called “Timmy The Great” which was directed and choreographed by Tony-winner Savion Glover for the Tribeca Theater Festival. But Stavo Craft is also especially known for his upcycled fashions, artworks made only for himself— but enjoyed by most everyone who walks by.
"Upcycling is the phenomenon of arting up the self and playfully indulging in thrift store fascination. My attire reveals many things, among them the secrets of occasional pattern clashing and the lost succulent joys of texture ritual. It draws attention to the thread-like nature of clothing. But it’s about the way we stitch ourselves together with a little of this energy, a little of that experience, or this subtle influence, or that various half-belief. And always in our personalities, with visible loose threads dangling about, as we are always unfinished and in motion."

Co-directed by Stavo with Meow Wolf co-founders Benji Geary & Emily Montoya, this is an outtake from the music video as it appears in the Convergence Station exhibition in Denver, Colorado. All words and music are written and performed by Galactic Witchcraft.

Adapting story to music, "Alien-Sponsored Pirate Radio" is a spoken word piece with original sonics that was taken from my illustrated short story "A World Of Aliens" which became the backdrop storyline for "The Sound Mirror" concept album. This track aired on our local pirate radio station, offering a personalized account that documents an alien-orchestrated transformation of Williamsburg Brooklyn. Possibly, a factual account.

"Is the painting itself the staggering accomplishment or all the moments spent painting it?
I thought, isn't it, in the end, about creating a beautiful life?"

"Yet another of those immaculate sprawling Santa Fe sunsets. The thing is, it will all go by so quickly. We must appreciate our long view and the wind in our hair."

"Stavo is many things to many people at Meow Wolf: Organizer, friendly ear, and renowned fire-putter-outter. He keeps the ship that is Meow Wolf's main production facility shipshape. Stavo also enjoys weaving conversation into fantastical realms of thinking... and this discussion is no exception! ENJOY!"

The Futurist from Inner Space embodies the "Invent Your Self / Invent Your Life" principle at the core of my work. In this illustrated short story, Persona is envisioned as a Space Without End, with The Futurist walking thru the Walls of the Mind in an ever-expanding concept of Being, amid immensely long hallways featuring open doors that extend all the way down. He sees that everything which seems separate from us is actually woven together, not “like” relationships between harmonies, but exactly so. And as he unlocks the mysteries of consciousness, the magical glories of The Expanded Potential Self are accessed.
It's the story of Becoming Your Own Highest Art Form & Celebrating the Largeness of the Smallness of the Individual Life. Subtitled, "A Child's Fairytale for Grown-Up Dreamers."

Cameo in the richly absurd "Slap! The Gondola" featurette, starring Tony Conrad, Genesis P-Orridge, and April March. Directed by the entrancingly eccentric Marie Losier.
Interviewed for the film "BIG JOY" about one of his Illuminative Mentors, FILMMAKER/POET JAMES BROUGHTON. Here on the red carpet for the World Premiere at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival with directors Stephen Silha & Eric Slade, and members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Stavo signs out in the end credits of "Big Joy" with an enactment of his-also-life-message, "FOLLOW YOUR OWN WEIRD."
